Neji... is Neji. There was a lot of fussing about how to handle that quest, especially when the first couple people Neji talked to weren't any help. /)_(\
Neji needs to talk to Naruto more. He's kind of torn, though. He seemed to respect Naruto in his memory, and Naruto's done a couple of things, briefly, that Neji respected in Aather. On the ooooother hand, he's done way more things that struck Neji as dumb, and he hasn't really confronted the fact that Naruto's first reaction to seeing Neji was to tell him that he shouldn't have his memories back. Now that he knows his father's dead, and there's been some implications of further family complications, Neji sort of wants to be offended and vent about how keeping him from knowing the truth is not going to help him. He sort of wants to punch Naruto in the head for that. But he hasn't.
There's also some, "Wait, what did I do to Hinata, what are you talking about?" to it.
There are feelings and it's confusing. :(
Is there anyone Naruto would like to see in Aather?
Sasuke wouldn't want to see anyone in Aather. The end. While he considers Sakura important he's not going to actively want to see her here. He might want Team Taka eventually, but that would depend on some memories.
Not really. I don't think he'd want to make anyone go through this for his benefit, and at the moment, he's not really that close to anyone in his memories.
Is there any Naruto characters you'd like to see, OOC? XD
I super really want a Sakura and Team Taka in particular. I want a Kakashi and Gaara would be super interesting and gosh, I'd love Gaara so much. I WANT SOMEONE TO APP HAKU because I'll never be able to (or I'll app him once I'm done with Sasuke, maybe).
1) Neji misses his skills. The probably goes without saying, but it's a really, really big thing. He's getting better, but without Byakugan in particular, he doesn't... feel like himself. Even beyond the memories, in a way? Byakugan has factored into all but two of the memories he's recovered, and it's a big deal. 2) Food that isn't spicy. Sob. Vincent. 3) Respect, in a way. 4) Having people he really trusts implicitly. 5) Understanding his place—his latest memory was his jounin promotion, which cemented that.
Is there any camp effects you think would be interesting in aather? XD
Iolite has been interesting. Because it's a sort of fractured team, it's actually pushed Neji to be more diplomatic. If he weren't, then they couldn't win, and that would be awful. :(
And actually the answers are related—first Vincent was kind of pushing Neji to take a more leadership-ish role in the team, with his guidance, and then Spitfire asked Neji if he thought he could learn how to juggle in Columbine's game. The two things sort of connected in Neji's head. The short version is that he experimented with seeing if he could juggle while he was thinking about Vincent and hiss Plans.
AWFUL INDEED. Fractured teams can be a challenge OOCly, but some characters can benefit from that kind of situation, depending on what you want to do with them... I hope that's the case for you!
strikeouts so retro 8D
Iiiiii also wanted to know more about Neji on Kaji! esp. after the wolf game...
It hasn't been awful for me? idk, I didn't expect a lot of smooshy feelings when I apped Neji, and I can roll with a lot with him, so it's not too awful OOC. IC, things do seem to be improving. So we'll see how it goes.
I... don't know that Kaji made a strong impression, exactly, but Neji would be interested in speaking with him again.
kyaaaaa Gaara *_* The practical advantages of being an amnesiac in a place with a power cap...
Naruto likes Aather! He misses people from Konoha and he clings to his identity as a ninja because it represents so much for him, but if he was offered to go back home now he wouldn't do it. He doesn't want to leave until he's done all he can to help Aather, which brought him here as a hero because it needs him. He hasn't completely lost faith in the Personae either, because his team has opposed his terrible ideas for throwing trauma games, so Naruto still believes Carnelian could win and come out of those games unscathed if they acted like the heroes they are supposed to be and refused to play, because those games shouldn't be played by the rules, there has to be an alternative way, etc etc. tl;dr Naruto believes he is in Aather to be a hero! Later on he will probably believe he is in Aather to save everyone. But we'll have to see.
Neji... is starting to appreciate the place, in a way. More that than the people. He feels pretty disconnected from most of the people here, and the Personae are... odd. Some of them he doesn't hate, but for the most part he doesn't feel a lot of obligation to help them, and he thinks that whatever they're doing, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to him.
Still, he kind of likes that you can get privacy around, and some of the views, and he finds it kind of interesting how it changes and comes to life? :|a
I was looking for a character who was on the opposite end of the social spectrum than the character I had in Aather at the time (Hakkai from Saiyuki)! At first I was torn between Mattrim Cauthon from The Wheel of Time and Jack Russell from Radiata Stories, but I wasn't convinced with either of them. And I started thinking about apping Keima or even Haqua from Kaminomi, Madoka, Black Star from Soul Eater... And then my waifu was awesome and started brainstorming ideas at me and when she finally said it sounded like I wanted to app Naruto something inside me clicked and I was like. YES. YES.
I... laughed a lot at myself during the next two weeks, and I couldn't believe what I was doing. But I love the character and I enjoy the canon a lot and I felt it could be a good fit for this game, so I went and apped him. I never expected to have castmates, though! That was a happy coincidence :'D.
Naruto is kind of my long running, brainless fun canon that I've been following forever, so it was kind of an obvious place to look when I was thinking of apping into camp. I knew I wanted someone, and I was talking to a friend about who.
True story, I basically said that I wanted someone who was baaaasically a good guy, but could say incredible mean things to people. Who could that be... who... Neji! (I also played Ino for a long time. idk, that's not the only character type I like or play, but it's definitely a favorite.) Then I played him forever, and I told myself I definitely wouldn't app him into Aather!
But I wanted to app someone for like... a couple of months, and Neji showed up briefly in canon, and oh my god, he was being so cranky and exhausted, and it reminded me why I loved him. I knew he'd be challenging, and... honestly I'm surprised he didn't end up a bigger dick than he is at the moment. It was definitely a possibility.
Would Naruto be disappointed to find out that pulling an Emerald in a trauma game doesn't (always) lead to winning?
Only a little! But Naruto doesn't really want Carnelian to pull an Emerald either... What he wants is to refute the very foundations of games like that on the basis that a true hero would find a way out of the kind of predicaments that the Personae want the teams to assume they're in when they make them play physically harmful trauma games, and a true hero's way might not result in anyone's death or harm. Basically, the justification behind trauma games picking up the situation from where you have to choose between bad and worse is too abstract for him, and Naruto thinks they are being underestimated by being put in that situation instead of playing out what would lead them to have to make that sort of decision, because it might not come to that. That's what makes him think they need to refuse to play, and that's why he thinks they should win if they did, too.
As for winning or not, he'd feel certain they did the right thing if they refused to play, even if they lost. The real problem would be if Carnelian was physically punished for acting that way. But yes, Naruto doesn't think playing the Emerald way is the right way to play trauma games either... (yet). And Carnelian is not a self-sacrificing team, so forcing Alois and Shuri to take hits for people they don't care about is not an issue Naruto could force. He'll argue and yell and get mad at them for not being willing to do it! But he won't force them, even if *that* kind of reluctance is disappointing for him.
I am the queen of run-on sentences and messy grammar and I don't even know if I answered your question /o/
How do you think Neji would fit in other teams? Any favorite what-ifs?
Awesome run on sentences. That makes a lot of sense for Naruto.
I don't really know. I wonder how Neji would have fit on other teams pretty often, but I'm not really sure I have any strong theories of how it would turn out.
...Except for if he were on Turquoise. If he were on Turquoise, he would be the MOST LONG SUFFERING.
I do in particular wonder how he would have done on a team that habitually took their memories together, though. Iolite doesn't, and while we've talked about trying to do it more, Neji's become pretty private and protective about his memories. He doesn't really want other people to know what he remembers, but more than that, he doesn't want people to know he has FEELINGS when he takes them sometimes. So I think it would have been interesting if he weren't on a team that let him hide his vulnerabilities like that. :|a
I think Naruto would've been more dere and protective of his team in Kunzite! In Tiger's Eye and Citrine I don't think there would've been much of a difference, except maybe that he would have had an easier time than in Carnelian, less drama, etc. I think Sapphire and Turquoise could have gone either way, Emerald would have been a good influence, and Ruby would have been a bad one. Iolite and Peridot... bad, probably... but I don't know! Amethyst and Coral would have been awkward.
